13,000 Thais have received compensation for adverse vaccine effects

From May 19 last year to March 8 this year, Thailand's National Health Security Agency (NHSO) paid approximately 1,509 million baht ($45.65 million) in compensation to people who died after receiving Coronavirus vaccines. or who suffered adverse reactions.

On March 9, the NHSO reported that, from May 19 of last year until then, a total of 15,933 people had filed complaints about adverse reactions to vaccines (*).

The NHSO has rejected 2,328 complaints after deciding that the side effects were not related to the vaccines. Of the rejected cases, 875 complainants appealed the previous NHSO decision.

In 891 cases, the review has not yet been completed.

The National Health Security Agency (NHSA) is responsible for the financial fund created to deal with compensation, according to the Phnom Penh Post.

In the event of death or permanent disability, each family will receive 400,000 baht ($11,900). 240,000 baht ($7,178) will be paid to those who lose a limb or suffer from a disability that affects their livelihood, and 100,000 baht ($2,990) to those with a chronic illness.

So far the NHSO has paid 1,509 million baht ($45.65 million) in compensation to 12,714 people who developed side effects after receiving the vaccines.
