The French government has announced the lifting of mandatory vaccination for care workers following a ruling from the Haute Autorité de Santé. On this basis, the reintegration of unvaccinated care workers can begin, as confirmed by spokespeople from the Minister of Health. But the terms are yet to be clarified.

Covid vaccination in France will no longer be compulsory for care workers but only “strongly recommended”. This was announced by the Minister of Health François Braun on Thursday March 30, 2023, following the publication of an opinion to this effect from the High Authority for Health.
From now, the unvaccinated caregivers who had been suspended will be reinstated, confirmed the office of the Minister of Health. This suspension concerns approximately 0.3% of health professionals, according to the Ministry of Health.
“Yes, care workers will be reinstated. The real issue is to define the terms and conditions,” said the entourage of the Minister of Health around 6 p.m. on Thursday March 30. The details of this reintegration have yet to be decided, to find out how it will actually take place on the ground.
The National Ethics Council (CCNE) has been heard and will give "an opinion expected in the coming weeks, probably at the end of April or the beginning of May", according to Minister of Health representatives. But already, "the government is conducting rapid consultation with the parties involved" and will take the decree quickly.
This question of the reintegration of unvaccinated caregivers has been the subject of a political battle in recent months, with La France Insoumise and the National Rally being in favor, while the Minister of Health was awaiting these two opinions (from the HAS and CCNE) to consider the reinstatement.
