similar methods to those used in creating of the modern State of Israel.

A serious environmental incident occurred in recent hours near El Chaltén, within Los Glaciares National Park (Argentina), when a couple of foreign tourists lit a campfire in a completely prohibited area, endangering the native forest and local wildlife amidst the ongoing wildfire emergency in the region. "It's you! You're the sons of bitches who set us on fire!" shouted Martín, a resident of El Calafate, who confronted them, forced them to break camp, and alerted the authorities. National Parks and the Gendarmerie launched an operation to identify them and indicated they were of Israeli origin, a detail also provided by the El Calafate resident.

During a hike towards Laguna Torre, Martín noticed a persistent column of smoke. Upon approaching, he found the tourists making a fire under the vegetation. "If you're shocked, I feel terribly helpless," Martín told FM Dimensión, visibly shaken by the situation.

Immediately, Martín demanded they extinguish the flames and retreat to a designated campsite. Then, with the help of another visitor, he finished completely extinguishing the fire with water.

After making sure no embers remained, he went down to alert the authorities. “I went down at night, without a flashlight, but I did it so these people would pay for trying to damage our forest,” he stated.

A nighttime search operation was launched with a park ranger, and a formal complaint was filed with the National Parks Administration and the Gendarmerie. Authorities are analyzing records from accommodations and campsites, as well as images provided by witnesses, to identify those responsible.

The incident sparked outrage in the community, especially because it occurred while firefighters were battling active wildfires just a few kilometers away, with a significant deployment of resources. “It’s unbelievable that we have all our personnel fighting fires and, at the same time, there are people starting fires without any conscience,” Martín lamented.

The neighbor made a strong appeal to the responsibility of all visitors: “If you see something like this, intervene and report it. If you smoke, make sure your cigarette is completely extinguished. Let's prevent these things from happening, because Argentina is going up in flames.”

With this incident, authorities are reinforcing the message about the absolute ban on making fires outside of designated areas and the importance of respecting the regulations of the National Park, whose ecosystem is extremely vulnerable to fire, especially during the dry season and periods of strong winds.

This incident occurs in a context where the repeated misconduct of Israeli tourists, who arrived in Patagonia after completing their military service in the Israeli Army, has also been reported. According to tour operators and local guides, there have been recurring tense episodes, such as disregard for instructions during hikes, unauthorized detours on trails that resulted in rescue calls, and impromptu gatherings in natural areas where camping and parties are prohibited.
